The trial began at the end of May 2021. The State completed its presentation, the defense responded, the State offered one rebuttal witness, and that portion of the trial was concluded on June 8, 2021.
The jury may receive the case for a verdict on June 9, 2021.

There were 2 rebuttal witnesses this morning and after examination both sides rested and the judge provided the instructions to the jury regarding how they should complete their task in reaching a verdict.

The jury is deliberating. Before the jury left the courtroom, there were outburts from Arlena Willes who was called out by the judge.

Melissa Diegel was to have Rule 11 competency hearing today, but all parties decided that, since the judge had off-the-record contact with CPS that the case should be reassigned.
Melissa was not particularly happy, complained of being denied justice, and advised the Court she did NOT waive her right to a speedy trial.

Something appears to have gone wrong and there was no livestreaming of the sentencing of Arlena Willes. According to reports, Arlena received a sentence of 10 years probation on each charge. More details may become available later.
